any recordings from Limelight or concerts online? Date: 07-05-2006 By: ArtL7	I'm a journalist who profiled Jean Shepherd when I was at Columbia Journalism School in '73 (the article, alas, remained unpublished -- but was my thesis.) I didn't keep accessible (if I remember correctly) the tape of the three-hour show at a junior college I saw him do (standing on top of a converted cafeteria table to do his set.) Shep may have limited my taping or I thought there'd always be recorded shows, but I didn't realize what a treasure that show would be enough to keep the tape available as a prized commodity. Did anyone ever tape the two-hour Limelight shows or college concert gigs he did? And is that available online as an Mp3 or elsewhere as CD-Roms or other trading mechanisms? I've just discovered Shep on the Web, and plugged some sites you all know at www.arthurlevine.com, my blog.	5

When I went to listing of "limelight" shows, I didn't see any links to actual MP3s or streaming audio we could listen to. Your suggestions are welcome. Thanks, art

First Go to the Links Page @ flicklives.com (right below the ads on the right side when you scroll down; 2. At the Links Page, Go to the Shep Archives (shep-archives.com) & click on the link. 3. When you go on the site, you will see a Quick Search Box. What you have to do is first scroll down to Search By Track. Then you type in "LL" (for Limelight)in the box below & click on go. 4. You should get approximately 102 shows on three pages(many are in two parts). To play the show, click on the musical note (I don't know what you have on your computer; I have Real Player & it does play through it). Hope this is helpful to you & please write back if you have any problems.
08-25-2006 ( Reply#: 544 )	ArtL7	Thanks I'll give it a try...even when I was growing up in the New York area in the 60s, I never got to hear a live Limelight show. were they broadcast every Saturday? I found the three pages you mentioned after I typed in "LL" -- but I was expecting a "live" broadcast with an audience, instead it's another in-studio performance (e.g., the " College Radio" show. ) It's of course great, but I still don't hear a live show-- which one of the tracks is a live show from the Limelight club or elsewhere? quote: Originally posted by diskojoe Dear Art: Sorry I didn't give you more details in my previous reply. 08-25-2006 ( Reply#: 545 )	diskojoe	Art, I think I made a mistook. Instead of using "Track", use "Album" instead w/LL. I just tried it & I got 90 Limelight shows. Other clues to determine if a Shep show is a Limelight show is that 1. It's from 1964-1967 2. You see a 1 or 2 next to the topic (a few of the shows are split in two in the Archives) or 3. The show is about an 1 hr. long (post 1967 shows that are 1 hr. long are either Shep's post-LL Saturday shows or a regular show w/a newscast left on). Jeez, after what happened to the Red Sox last weekend, I should get at least the brass figalgee w/bronze oak leaves for helping out a New Yorker! [B)]
