CJ, I used to check every day but there was nothing happening so I just check occasionally now.

Except for some deleted spam, the last post regarding Shep was last year . . . and that was mine. |

I check Shep every day and also use Planet Hammond; but PH is a different type of conversation than we had here. The guys who set up Planet Hammond almost five years ago now are considering developing a dedicated web site. |

I concur. In Shep, there seems to be a bit more cohesion between members than PH, even though most of us have never met.
Hey Ken, we passed thru Hurricane (on 64) last month on our way to PA. I didn't realize we were going to be that way or I would have made arrangements with you to stop for coffee or something.
Man, you'se guys got lottsa mountains out there...Cj |

(checking for a pulse) ... it's still ticking so I'm not dead yet.
I posted twice on April 27 of this year. But I've had nothing new to add since then until now. Living in Canada keeps me out of touch with the region. Visiting http://www.nwitimes.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/pages/East-Chicago-Indiana-Hell-Yea/273808422077 helps. |

Hello to seejay2, Jay, Tom and others. No, I ain't dead yet. Just been enjoying my first year of real retirement. Lots of camping in the Travel Trailer, both long trips out west and more locally at MN stste parks.
A question for you ex-region rats that have moved to Kentucky - we are thinking of moving south of MN, WI, and IL and thinking about somewhere around Henderson. I'd appreciate your insight. |

It might be a bit further north than some may want to be, but is is south of MN, WI and IL. This is a good thing. I get a cold chill just thinking of those places.
I am in the Kentucky Lake area, 2 hours SW of Henderson.
I can't speak for Henderson because I have never been there, but one major consideration is that Kentucky Commonwealth does not tax non-earned income. This means that your retirement plans and Social Security does not get hammered by the state as the do in Indiana.
If you get a job at Walmart greeting people, that will be subject to tribute for the king.
So the moral to the story is: "Screw work! Go fishin'"...Cj |

Very well put, CJ...I'm with you. Retired almost 3 years now and still not looking for a job. Don't catch a lot of fish, but a few...just enjoy having the time to be out there. Doesn't get any better than this |

Come on down, Duane! Henderson should be a good place to live. You would have a nice size city just across the river (Evansville, IN). Henderson itself is decent size.
You wouldn't be all that far from Kentucky Lake and Barkley Lake, maybe two hours depending on what part of the lakes you want to get to.
You would be about an hour away from me.
Go for it. [:)]
