Hello everyone.
Thanks for asking Tom. We got only nine inches of snow here in the town appropriately named "Hurricane." That's nothing like some of the counties in the eastern mountains of the state where some had as much as thirty inches of snow.
Sorry I haven't responded earlier, but power went off Tuesday morning and was restored about two hours ago. The power company is saying that some of those areas in the eastern part of the state will not have power until late next week.
Huntington, which is only twenty miles west of where I live received only about two inches of snow.

Ken,
glad you had a "light" snowfall... You still have the 1967 NW Indiana snow
to recall as a whopper.
Have you taken pictures of the Sandy snowfall in Hurricane? Will you
share some of those with us? Surely there was a bunny, deer, fox, birds
making the scene.

Sorry S.C. there were no bunnies, deer, foxes, birds, or even bears around during the snow. But I do have a couple pictures of how it looked around here on Tuesday.
About 9:15am I took this first picture while standing in the garage door getting ready to shovel a path down the driveway so I could get the newspaper. This is when a branch fell on the wire across from the house; then I heard a large explosion and the power was off for the the next three days. (This is a panoramic made from stitching together five photos.)

And here's the culprit that fell on the line and shut off the power to our small neighborhood of eight residences for those three days.

But all we received here in Hurricane was 9" of snow. Most all of our snow had melted by Wednesday evening. Some of the folks in other areas of West Virginia received almost 36 inches.

That's all folks.

As usual, great pics--black and white photos are so nice to see and the feeling
you get is one of stillness--as well as a bit of cold.
Thanks for sharing. |

Ken,
did you feel the Whitesburg, KY 4.5 earthquake this afternoon--Sat, Nov. 10?
You are about 150 miles north and the report I read said some felt it in W.V., Ohio, and TN (I did not--probably was felt in Knoxville.
I did feel tremors from an earthquake when I was a freshman at Carson-Newman
in East TN, back in 61.
I hope you are doing well after your latest happening. Do you usually have to
wait for 6 mos, or 12 mos. before you can drive?
Sue
