Hessville School Bus Service Date: 06-21-2011 By: Roger D	Any body out there remember the school bus service that Eugene Winders and his wife ran in Hessville? I rode the bus from the fall of '57 until spring of '62. If I remember correctly it cost $3.50 per month for the first child in the family and $3.00 per month for any additional children. They ran a bus to Morton High and one to Caldwell Elemetry. Mr. Winders didn't put up with nonesense. You behaved or you DID NOT ride.	3

06-21-2011 ( Reply#: 6629 )	wvcogs	I attended Morton from 1956 to 1960 and don't remember the bus. What area did it cover? The only buses I remember are the ones we rented to go to out of town football games and band contests. Ken

By the time I entered my Sr. year, the walk from Grand Park to school was a given for us in that neighborhood. You had at least a mile more than we had to walk? I think our walk was about 2 miles, but that may be a stretch--we "old folk" like to brag about how far we had to walk to school. Okay, I just googled the route we walked and it is 1.5 miles
06-22-2011 ( Reply#: 6632 )	Roger D	If I remember correctly it covered and area from Cline Ave. on the east to Grand Ave. on the west and 80\94 on the south to 173rd on the north. The Winders lived on 177th. Pl. 1/2 block from Cline. There two oldest kids were Ronald and Karen. They had two or three younger kids. They also owned Beacon Skating Rink in Calumet Township.
