05-30-2010 ( Reply#: 5628 )	Paddy	This Memorial Day was made even more somber by the death of a firefighter in our town. John Glaser became a firefighter after serving in the Marine Corps. A week ago, his engine company was the first arriving crew on the scene of a house fire. Neighbors said that there may be people inside the burning home, so the fire crew crawled through blinding smoke to rescue victims. As it turned out, the neighbors were wrong. No one was home, but Firefighter Glaser and his crew did not hesitate for one second. They crawled on hands and knees in zero visibility through each room in case they could save a life. Firefighter Glaser did not make it out. He died while searching for victims. He left a wife and two young children.
