Max, I heard that interview with Martin J. Newmark from 1960 last night & I'm wondering who he was. I couldn't find any mention of him over the Internet tubes or the IMDB. Did he really exist or was it just a put-on?

That "Newmark" sounded like an early version of Larry "Bud" Melman . I think it had to be a put on.

I wish I knew who played "Mr Newmark". Maybe this is the fabled John Cassavetes interview.

I find it funnier with repeated listenings. And they say Shep never did interviews!

Well Joe, it looks like no one knows who he is or was. I too could find no reference to this "mysterious" film maker.

Just to add, I especially liked the way "Mr. Newmark" varied addressing Shep as both "Barry" and "Jean"...

"Drop the tools, we've got you covered!"
